This skirt is made from a soft black hemp; it's a medium-weight, and has a similar texture to linen. If you've never worn hemp, it's one of the most luxurious and fabulous, not to mention eco-friendly fabrics available. On the lower front is a decorative appliqué from a lovely plum fabric; the appliqué fabric is by Tracy Porter (a personal favorite), and the print has a textured printmaker-quality to it. The waistband, ties and stitching are plum hemp.
My fabrics are all pre-washed, I serge all seams, fuse appliqué and then tightly satin-stitch. Borders are top-stitched for extra durability. This can be machine washed and dried using warm water & a gentle cycle.
